Restore Down button
Posted by Alasdair on April 3rd, 2006

On my laptop, running Windows XP, when I press the "restore down"
button, the window stays at the maximise position. I cannot reach the
corners of the window to reduce it by dragging. Is it possible to
restore down using the menu or by some other means than dragging
please?

Right click on the title-bar on top of the window, select size.
The cursor changes to a 4 pointed arrow. Use the arrow keys to adjust the
size. Click the mouse to exit the resize mode.

If you can get your mouse-pointer onto the 'title bar' of the window, you
can hold down the left mouse button and 'drag' the whole window up, down,
or sideways. Does that bring the corners or edges into 'reach' so that
you can re-size the window?

You might want to look into why you can't 'reach' every part of your
'desktop'. It could be that your monitor needs some adjustment - CRT
types usually have knobs or buttons somewhere for making the picture
bigger and smaller etc. so that none of it is hidden behind the
'bodywork'. Another possibility is that your computer thinks you have
more pixels on the monitor than the monitor actually has; that would be
somewhere in the settings for your operating system.

Did you try restore down first, then right clicking on the title bar?
