I just began working in tech support, and I thought i would start a thread
about the ignorant people i get on the phone. I had a good one today.

This guy calls in and he is unable to get online, and i could tell right off
of the bat he was upset that he got a girl(me) on the phone. He was one of
them guys that has to much pride to let a girl help him.

"Can you put me to tech support please." i could tell it was going to be a
long call from the beginning because the guy was treating me like crap and
would not troubleshoot. Was telling me he was sick of our service, it
screws up every day ......blah blah blah. I can ping his mdm, so i ask if he
has just one computer hooked straight up to the modem. He says yeah. Well
then i noticed another mac behind the mdm thats not recognized by our
network. So I ask, "do you have a router?" He says nope! I then asked if he
had any firewalls and before i got the end of the question out, he says,
nope. At this point im already wanting to tear every hair out of my head!

Finally i have the guy enter the dos prompt to check his ip. He gets a 192
ip. As soon as I found that out I was just pissed because ive been
listening to this guy whine about his internet service that isnt working
because he's ignorant, so I'm like okay, I think its time for him to get a
taste of his own medicine. So I ask him again, do you or did you have a
router? He says,once again, nope. Well sir, you have an ip address that you
would only have if you were hooked up to a router. If you hooked up to a
router, we need to register it before you can get online. If you
disconnected a router, then I'll need to register your computer, so please
let me know which one it is so I can finally get you online!

I hear a moment of silence, perhaps he was in shock at the way i just
treated him.The guy told me he was really angry with me and that he had to
go and then the ass hung up the phone. I only hope I made him feel like the
dumbass he truly is. I am sorry, but everyone has a line and this guy
crossed mine after the first 5 seconds of the call, and even then I remained
calm until I found out that he lied to me, and flat out waisted my time.
