- Rogue Windows Process.
- Posted by Allan Rockett on January 5th, 2005
I have found a windows process on my PC which is using 99% of my CPU. The
only way to stop it, is to reboot. This then cuts in again every time I
connect to the internet. I have done several Virus and Spyware scans, to no
avail. If I use the Search facility in XP to find this file (r9ky7aaj.exe)
nothing shows up, but the process is listed in Task Manager every time I
boot up. Does anyone have any idea what this is, nad/or how I can get rid of
it?

boot up in safe mode, then delete the file.

You can use the tools in the link like Process Explorer to help you pin
point. Process Explorer lets you look inside running processes to see what
is using the process.

What's the name of the process?
If it is called "System Idle Process", this is normal.

start-up processes he picks the easiest to be defined as normal.
