- Russian handwritten character recognition
- Posted by Stickems. on November 7th, 2005
I'm looking for a free program that will convert a hand-written letter in
Russian (which I have scanned) into Russian text so that I can translate it
online.

Neither of your suggestions will do the job.

I just typed "russian ocr" (without the quotes) into go ogle and it
showed up with lots of links. Seems to me you are just a lazy cunt or a
cheap bastard who cannot afford some bucks.

I googled, I found loads of OCR, but no OCR for handwriting.

In my experience, OCR for handwriting is nearly non-functional, whether
English or Russian. Handwriting is too imprecise for good OCR.

Hello, Stickems,
I am a native Russian translator.
I can state absolutely definitely: hand-written OCR software does not
exist so far.
It is a very hard mathematical problem to recognize Russian (or any
other language)
hand-written text.
Consider hiring me as an En-Ru, Ru-En translator for your hand-written
snail mail correspondence. I charge 0.07 USD/word.
I live in Russia, you may pay me via Western Union or
www.monetaexpress.com
(the latter option is available for USA citizens only).
Contact me ONLY from my web feedback form:
