I have 98.se when going into the subject and clicking on start. nothing
moves and my computer freezes up. I then have to shut down with the on/off
button and reboot again. any ideas please.tsfl.

It may be that there are processes running in the background which are
conflicting with Scandisk and Defragmenter. I suggest you reboot the
computer into Safe Mode (Reboot, hit the F8 key repeatedly and select 'Safe
Mode' from the menu) and run scandisk from there.
