I have an oldish Mustek 1200USB scanner whic produces images with light and
dark banding. Once before I "fixed" this by opening it and cleaning and
lightly oiling the rails the scanning element runs on.
It "may" work for another while if I do the same again but is it worth the
hassle?
Have been thinking about one which will scan a pile of old 110 and 35mm
negatives but can you really get a good printable image doing this? If so
any recommendations as to brand/model etc.

No XP drivers as such available, it works with Win2K drivers and a FIXWINXP
utility from Mustek.

doesn't have a backlight. To scan negatives and slides the light needs to
shine from the back.
