A service pack is what microsoft issues 2 years after the release of its OS
to fill the holes they coulnt be bothered to fill when they issued it.
Basically it updates windows, and plugs some security holes

I beg to differ.

What Microshaft issues to fix holes etc. that they built into an OS
is... a New OS.

Service packs contain fixes only to things they are in immediate
danger of being sued for. Anything they can otherwise simply delay,
they build into the next OS so you have to pay for the bugfix.

in this case, it's an update to the microsoft operating system.
it is a combination of patches and fixes from other venders to add current
functionality.

in my opinion, if it ain't broke, don't break it...
