When I put a shortcut on my desktop it often starts with a nice icon showing
for instance the logo of the firm of the website. But some logo's change
later to the standard windows logo. Also it happens that a few days later
the original logo is back, but it also disapears then again.
This puzzles me. Why is this? can I do anything about this?

Because the "favicons" are stored in the Temporary
Internet Files folder, and if/when that gets cleared,
so do the favicons. Try Favorg:

Mike I have used this programme since you recommended it and found it very
useful although the link you suggest below wont get it (only tries to get

I don't remember. Since PCMag went subscription,
it's the only place I know to get it officially. You
could try searching Google for "favorg.zip"; that
might turn something up.
