- Slow Boot Up
- Posted by Northern3 on April 12th, 2004
Hi All.
Having a bit of a problem with a friends hard drive it is taking approx. 2
minutes to get past the POST screen it just keeps saying it is
"waiting",have tried it on auto detect and user in the bios but to no
avail.Have tried it on another ide connector still no good have also tried 2
other hard drives with the same result.Tried disconnecting the floppy drive
and cd-rom that proved a waste off time. When it eventually reaches the
desktop and I went into device manager it shows the Standard IDE Controller
to be uninstalled, attempted to reinstall it but after reboot it was
uninstalled again.Would be grateful for any help in solving this problem.
Thanks

Did you try replacing the ribbon cable?
