Win XP Pro
OE6
Having difficulty, not earth shattering but aggravating, when reading
in this NG. This has happened overnight and I cannot trace how or
why it is occurring.
I click on a question and it may or may not appear almost immediately,
but mostly it takes an awful long time to appear, 10, 15 or more
seconds When I click on a response it also my take an extraordinary
time to appear but then the next response pops up immediately.
What program or utility causes this? I have never had a situation as
this before and I do not think it a matter of OE or Cox.net.

Try a simple reboot.

Mine does that sometimes - I think the server is being overworked. Can't say
for sure though.

I've found that Windows will often hold a port/s
open, and not relinquish it/them; this goes for all
flavours. I'm not sure of why it happens, or the
mechanics of it, but when it happens to me, a
simple reboot will usually make communications
smoother again. Then again, there are times
when the servers become bogged down, as you
say, or when they're in a maintenance phase.
