Why do you take glee in anouncing the update?
before you use the damn thing you should always check for updates prior
to scanning --- or is that sort of concept alien to you?
Same applies to av software---dont forget, just because you have the
update ,it does not mean you have not previously downloaded a nasty.
A full scan is required after each update if you subscibe to the viri
/worm paranoia that is pushed out by the companies and folks like
yourself.
do you actually know what most so called "viri" do?

You don't scan with Spyware Blaster and it does not run in real time
like an AV. It lies in the background (Registry) and is always working.
Updates usually are 2-4 weeks apart. So, being advised of the update is
very welcome to us who use Spyware Blaster. Spyware Blaster does not
clean. It only prevents.
