Strange Network/ICS problem
Posted by NoBody@this.home.net.invalid on September 6th, 2004

Have a couple of computers setup in a home network.
Using Win XP pro as ICS computer to connect to Internet.
If I assign an IP 192.168.0.1x to the client computers the
Internet dial up connects but no data transfer.
If I allow the IP to be assigned by the Win XP box all works.
Network sharing works either way.
I really want to assign the IP myself.

TIA

You can look down in the TOP 50 Tips as it discusses how to assign a Static
IP to a machine when the XP machine is the DHCP Server on the network. It
may help you.
