System Freezing
Posted by Rose Bush on November 9th, 2003

I am running W98 SE, and it has suddenly started freezing. It makes
no difference if I'm running an app, or if the box is just sitting
there. I have done all the usual things (Trojan and virus scans,
scandisk, defrag, etc., etc., etc.) to no avail. No programs have been
added or deleted recently. This thing just started with no warning.

I have a minimum of background programs running (Mcafee security
Center and my DSL connection). System resources are 87% free.

I know this question has been answered before, but when I tried to
research it, the system would freeze before I could get anywhere.

Any assistance, info, suggestions greatly appreciated.

TIA

Make sure your CPU fan is working, if it isn't the CUP overheats and freezes
your system. At least one thing to check.
