thumbnail view by default
Posted by Paul Burdett on March 9th, 2008

OK..I want to click File>open (in Photoshop..or any other graphics program)
and have the photos shown as thumbnails by default...that is without having
to click on the view menu and then change from icon to thumbnail. I've
"Googled" this and it seems that it can't be done in XP. Is this true?
Cheers,
Paul

What exactly are you asking?
Are you talking about Photoshop or XP's folders options -
both of which have thumbnail view options.

Sorry for the vagueness. I'm referring to Photoshop...yes, the folder
options allow thumbnail view, but photos always open in icon mode in
Photoshop's "File">"open" menu. You then have to always click
"view">thumbnail in order to view the photos. XP's folder options allow you
to click on a folder of images and always have them displayed as thumbnails.
I guess one can open a folder of images in explorer and drag the image to
Photoshop...but it would be nice if you could do it within photoshop. My
internet research seems to reveal that it's not possible although it was
possible prior to version 7, and it has something to do with the psicon.dll
file. In any event...life's too short to worry about it.
