install "World Time". This is a very helpful tool to see at a glance the
time in different parts of the world. You can configure it to show your
local time and the time in a number of other locations.

Cannot vouch for the Ver 6, (Beta), I haven't used it yet, but I have
been using Version 5 for some time

Eastern Time is 5 hours behind the U.K.

Two minor points:

1) Summer Time (Daylight Savings Time) begins a week earlier in the
U.K. So for that week, there is a 9 hour difference between Pacific
Time and British Summer Time.

2) most of Indiana is on year-around Eastern STANDARD Time. (no
summer/daylight savings time)

So 6 P.M. - 8 P.M. Pacific is 2 A.M.-4 A.M. the next day British Time.

There's a U.S. Time Zone map at http://www.time.gov

Times on the internet are best given in Greenwich Mean Time, sometimes
called UTC, WITH NO ALLOWANCE FOR BRITISH SUMMER TIME. In other words,
the time in Ghana.

That way, you only have to know what YOUR timezone does and you don't
have to remember that the other guy is in Sydney and his winter time
zone is GMT+10 and he is on summer time in December. Remember that the
date may be different in different time zones. Monday night in Chicago
is Tuesday morning in Paris.

(Actually, GMT and UTC can differ by as much as 7/10 of a second, but
that only matters if you are doing navigation or fancy astrophysical
work.)
