- turning off ads in msn live messenger
- Posted by Tony Tee on October 22nd, 2007
I'm sick of seing adverts and mini advertsing movies (flash scripts?) in the
live messenger window.
Is there a way to block these ads from doing their thing on my pc?
Cheers

Use a different IM client such as Trillian. You won't get the full

Ya, use a HOSTS file, you stick one at:
WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\
The one I use http://someonewhocares.org/hosts/hosts Save as HOSTS
It will pry add .txt remove it and place it in the above directory.
More info and anothers HOSTS file
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm this one pushes malware
prevention, a HOSTS file does by blocking ADs which would infect you.
Another popular HOSTS file provider is Mike's
http://www.everythingisnt.com/hosts.html
What you will notice with a HOSTS file is webpages with blank spots
where an ad should be.
