USB header help
Posted by Dean on January 26th, 2005

My new computer, just received and under construction, has only one USB
header on the motherboard, however that header is taken up by the two
front-panel USB ports.

I also bought a front panel card reader, but this needs to be attached to
the motherboard too.

Is there such a thing as a "splitter" for the USB header?

Thanks,
Dean

easier just to buy an internal card reader with the extra USB ports built in
so you don't sacrifice front USB access. This one connects to the internal
headers and is very nice, with lots of other features.

Ouch. That is a really nice setup. But it's gonna be a pain to send back the
"upgraded" front-panel reader I ordered with the computer.

I was just hoping to be able to split off the USB header to use what I have.

Thanks, though.

We disabled one of the front-panel USB ports, and used the header pins for
the reader. Works.

Having the cardreader is worth the loss.

Oh, well. Can't have it all.
