Virtually low
Posted by Simply Me on November 1st, 2004

Hi all. Can someone explain why the virtual memory gets low on my
computer (winxp) and what can be done to correct or prevent it from
happening? I've had some message that tells me that windows is
expanding the virtual memory size. Is there something wrong with my
computer? There also many times seems to be some kind of program
running in the background, but when I check the task manager I can't
make out what it is. Everything looks normal to me.

Another thing, the other day it appeared as though data was being
downloaded from my computer. Can't really say why it appeared so
other than it wouldn't go offline when I tried to disconnect. Is that
possible?

TIA

I've seen viruses cause that sort of behavior. If you haven't already,
update and do a complete virus scan with a good antivirus. Then do
another one or two online, such as Trend Housecall. The following list
