- VKD windows protection error
- Posted by L.D. on January 11th, 2004
This morning my computer won't start. It comes to the window that
gives the option to start normal or safe mode etc.I pick normal and it
continues and get the window with the windows logo, then back to a
black screen with the message " while initializing Device VKD
windows protection error. You need to restart your computer
Press any key to continue".
Where I do or don't press a key, the black screen with orange letters
says "It's now safe to turn off your computer.
I have tried it in safe mode and I get just part of the "while
initializing...." message and it just stopes there.
I have an old copy of a drive C: I used back last year. When I put in
a new hard drive in I kept that as drive D: I can go into BIOS and
make boot secquance to D then C and the computer will boot to the old
copy of windows in D drive. That doesn't do much good since it is old
and out of date. Saying this so you will know it will boot from D. I
went back to boot from c and still same problem.

Sorry about the 3 posts.
I posted the message 3 times because when posting the first 2 I got a
messags saying there had been an error in posting, try again later.
Well apparently the first 2 took?????
Ok I've run scan disk and did find errors, they were fixed. I don't
have another key board but I did clean the connections. I think it is
not the keyboad since it will boot to D: with that keyboard. It also
was bootong to D: with those errors.
Anymore suggestions? It still won't boot to C:
