- Windows directory
- Posted by Big Ron on March 12th, 2006
Using XP home - just had a look in windows explorer in the Windows directory
and saw a boatload (about 50-odd) of sub-directories named
"$NtUninstallKB896727$" for instance, and all in blue font, each with a
(blue) subdirectory called "spuninst", and each of those with four (blue)
files - "spuninst.exe", "spuninst.inf", "spuninst.txt", and "updspapi.dll".
Anyone know what these are and why they're there? They seem to be
associated with NT?
TIA
Ron

If you would choose to uninstall some particular Windows Update, the
Add/Remove Programs tool uses them to do that.
Unless you are running out of hard disk space, best to leave them alone.
Yes, it is a silly system.
XP Home is Windows NT version 5.1
