- Windows password forgotten

My nephew has just decided to start using his PC after 8 months of
inactivity (him as well as the PC) and he has forgotton his password.
He can log in on the 'Guest' account but that is a limited account so he
can't access his files as they're not shared across the users.
Can anyone suggest a solution that doesn't involve formatting his hard
drive.
