- Windows XP & Network Printers

Hi there,
Does anyone know how to stop XP from automatically installing printers that
it finds on the network?
This is annoying having to delete them every time.
TIA

I agree...and I too have no solution. Yesterday I had to delete 10 printers
on the bosses computer. So if you get it figured out, please post your
solution back here for me to try too!

Why delete them? XP is just doing its job. This is what you paid for.

I found this suggestion elsewhere. Can't vouch for it but it may work;
Open any shell folder window
Tools / Folder Options
View Tab
uncheck
Automatically search for network folders and printers
OK

Because my users are just about as dense as a post, and seem to like
printing to the payroll office printer from the sales desks across the
street. Then they can't figure out why the thing doesn't come out of their
printer, so they send it a dozen more times before someone finally yells at
them to stop! <g>

Did you try tossing a stapler at them?

My aim isn't that good ... I'd probably plug their monitor full of holes ...
