Windows XP Reinstallation
Posted by Weyoun the Dancing Borg on September 9th, 2004

Hi guys, it's been a while

Well, it's been nearly 2 years and Windows XP Pro is going slow. Opeing
files, startup especially (was over 5 minutes!). A few weeks ago I did
some serious house cleaning - uninstallation, antivirus, Adware removal,
removing old files, and then finally defragmenting. It worked ok but
it's still too slow.

Now, I have 3 hard drives, so I'm going to put everything on G and F and
just format C. Then F (my programs hard drive).

I have a Windows XP installation CD by no CD code. In previous versions
of Windows I could go into regedit and get the code which was hidden
under localmachine/.../current version but I can't find it now.

Do you know how I can get it? Thanks!

i tried it myself. theres no way to get back your cd-key.

you shouldn't waste your time on that and better search the paper with the
key on it.

bye,

sege

thank you that did it!

And I know it found the correct one because I recognise some of it!

Thanks again!

question: do you "recognise" product ID codes? Ever?

Find a copy of AIDA32 as it will easily show you the information under the
OS section. I just tried it on my XP Pro. If you have no luck ask back in here
and I will sort a copy out for you. Supply you email address in a suitably munged
method.
