XP/Office 2003 Address book question
Posted by Calum on January 25th, 2005

Hello Everybody

Am I correct in assuming that the "windows address book system" integrates
with outlook express? I think this is correct, but could someone tell me if
this integrates and is one and the same with the outlook address book
system. Therefore is it possible to administor the address from either of
the three points. Eg. Windows xp address book via accessories, via outlook
express and/or outlook office 2003? Further more do people generally use
this Address book for organising personal contact files or do people
generally recommend third party address book solutions?
Thanks in advance.

I don't think that many people will use the Windows address book once
they have got the MS Outlook 2003. And it does not seem to be
compatible either. The Windows address book is compatible with
exchange servers however, but that seems to be the only thing. Once
you have mooved up to MS Outlook 2003 it is not easy to moove down
again to Outlook Express and then to Windows address book

I have found no way to integrate my Outlook Contacts with Windows
Address Book. They are 2 different address books. MSWord can use
either address book but prefers Outlook Contacts, I think. MS Works
uses Windows Address Book. If you need your addresses in both places, I
believe you can Export your Outlook Contacts to a Text File (comma
separated values) & then Import that in Outlook Express. Import/Export
proceedures are handled under File>Import/Export in both programs. You
can read a bit about it in each program's Help files. Keep in mind that
you will have to update both areas to keep your content current.
