- Dual boot activate on press key
- Posted by Alain on March 28th, 2008
Hi,
My PC has two partitions. 1-XP pro, 2-DOS. I create a dual boot (XP and
DOS). The DOS partition is only for use to recover if a crash occurs on the
XP partition. I use ghost.exe.
But at each boot, a menu appears for select the boot partition. It is
possible to not display a menu and to activate the DOS Partition using a
special key combinaison on my keyboard only when i want it?
Thank you for any idea

It's possible but also complicated. You need a good knowledge of the
boot process. The details are way beyond a news post...you should search
the web. However, the method you are proposing will fail if the disk is
corrupted, e.g. by a voltage spike or a virus.
May I give my opinion that there is a much better way? Disk imaging is
the way to go. With a regularly updated disk image you can restore your
computer in minutes.

Or simply stay with single boot, and use a bootable CD or diskette to boot
ghost when inserted before booting ?
