I've been busy making mods after doing a re-install. My notification try
on my task bar is getting kinda big. I'd like to have it take up less
screen real estate. I looked up Windows help and followed the steps
only to see Hide icons on Notification Tray to be grayed out. I am
operating under an authorized profile. So what can I try to make this
function available again?

\Explorer

In the right-hand pane, look for either or both of these Values:

NoAutoTrayNotify
NoTrayItemsDisplay

Always backup the key(s) you intend to edit or delete. To backup
(export) a key, highlight the key, and in the File drop-down menu
select Export. Select a location you can remember and give the
saved .reg file a suitable name. This is a safety measure in case
something goes wrong - double-clicking on the saved .reg file and
merging the contents of this file will put things back the way they
were.

When you've done that, right-click on the Values and Delete them.

Close Registry Editor
Logoff and Logon for the changes to take effect, or restart the
computer.
