Dear All,

I have some WinXP registry related questions so i'm looking for a
newsgroup for my questions or post them here?

Thanks,
Carlos.

Thanks!

5 Registry questions:

1-Location of "clicklock" in the Registry to turn it on and adjust it's settings.
2-Location of "Single click to open an item (point to select)/Underline icon titles only when i point at them"
in the Registry to turn both of the above on from Default "Double click to open an item (single click to select)".
3-Location of "Quick Launch" toolbar in the Registry to turn it on when it's off.
4--Location of "Scroll Bars" size in the Registry to make them fat cause they are slim.
5--Location of "Hide underlined letters for keyboard navication
until i press the Alt key" in the Registry to turn it off when it's on.

I'm doing a registry file that when activated will customize XP the way i want
and not doing the same things on every XP PC they bring me to fix.
So far the easiest registry tweaks to find were of the Start Menu
but some of the above like "Quick Launch" i just cannot locate.

Thanks for your help,
Carlos.

Some of the customizations you're talking about, are stored in REG_BINARY
values, and a single registry value stores the settings for many number of
things (especially #2, 3 & 4). Instead of creating a REG file, why not
customize the default user profile template so that every new user account
follows that template settings.

Some adjustments needed after customizing.

The Desktop.ini File Does Not Work Correctly When You Create a Custom
Default Profile:

Wallpaper setting does not apply correctly when you create a custom default

If you still need a REG file, monitor the registry changes using one of
these tools:

Carlos,

It's a per-user setting and I'm nt sure why that setting does not apply.
Have you tried customizing the profile as an Admin?

Dear Ramesh,

Perfect! the default user profile template was
just what i was looking for.
(Don't want to mess up my Registry)
The only thing is that when you create
a template you have to do it using a limited
user account and a limited account just refuses
to accept:

"Single click to open an item (point to select)/
Underline icon titles only when i point at them"

but only

"Single click to open an item (point to select)/
Underline icon titles consistent with my browser"
(it's annoying cause all icons, files, folders, everything gets
nderlined.. )

no matter how many times i try.

Thanks for your help!
Carlos,

Try editing the registry for this particular setting.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer

Create a REG_BINARY value named "IconUnderline"

Possible data :
02 00 00 00 (Underline icon titles only when I point at them)
03 00 00 00 (Underline icon titles consistent with my browser)
