Wantto: Lock Computer then execute command (load a black screen)
Posted by Krystian on March 13th, 2006

Hello,

Is there a way to, once you lock your computer in Windows[1] to have a black
screen show up immediately, or have the screensaver immediately run?

The only method to this currently seems to be by reducing the length until
the screensaver kicks in to 1 minute... but I found that to be a nuissance
for when I
was actually using the computer (and had the screen saver load up
constantly)

I found that there is a way to get Utility programs to run once your
computer is locked [2], but I couldn't locate information on how to
configure this for user defined programs.

I know other OSs, like Gnome, permit this feature. [3]

Thanks,
Krystian.

Hi Mark, Thanks for your response.

Windows + L just lets me lock my computer. It doesn't allow me to execute a
command, or load a program, or start my screensaver immediately.

As far as I know, there's no native way. You'd need to write a
script.
