- 1000nm filter @ 52mm?
- Posted by Matt McKay on August 23rd, 2003
Does anyone know if the 1000nm Infrared (x-ray) filter comes in a 52mm size?
The closest I've see is 58mm.
I can use a step-up ring to fit it, but then if I want additional lenses or
filters then I need to step it down again

You can find the B+W #093 1000nm filter in 52mm at Adorama and also
B&H Photo, but they're big bucks ($73). Why do you need such a deep
filter? I've usually had much better success with IR filters like the
Hoya R72 (720nm) that permit much shorter exposure times.
In any case, for about the same money you may be better off getting
the larger filter since they're expensive and you cannot anticipate
what lenses you may be using in the future (step-down rings are
cheap).

Kodak gels are no longer available in IR, nor have they been for quite
some time.
