8MM to CD
Posted by lou on July 14th, 2003

Hi,

I want to tranfer 8mm video from the camera to a CD. I have the
camera, a CD burner and a PC that does not have a video capture card.

What is the best way to get the video from the tape or camera onto a
CD?

I have Easy CD creator 5 as the burning software.

Do I have everthing that I need or do I need additional hardware or
software in order to do this?

Any step by step instructions or websites would be helpful as I am
clueless on this one.

thanks

Is the camera DV? If so, with enough hard drive space
you already have the system requirements. You should get
a better Video editor to be safe. I'll let someone else
suggest one.

If your video camera is analog, then you will need either
a digital-vc or a capture card.

Analog camera, or DV?

If DV, a simple FIREWIRE card will do what you want

If Analog, you need a converter... what I use is on my Video page
at the jtsmith link in my sig

If you don't want to install a card, there are many external
devices... some of them even work well for most people
