Adobe Premiere "Cannot Connect to Capture Driver" DC30Pro
Posted by William Wisnieski on December 19th, 2003

Hello Everyone,

For the last couple of years, I've used a Pinnacle DC30Pro Card and Adobe
Premiere 5.01c on my Windows 98 computer. Today I finally decided to
upgrade my computer to Windows 2000. So I did a clean install of Windows
2000, complete with SP4. Then I reinstalled Premiere and downloaded and
installed the DC30Pro Driver for Windows 2000.

I did the inital test of my hard drives etc with the MiroVideo Capture tools
and everything looked great. Then the problem hit when I went into Premiere
to set up my project. Specifically, when I got to the Capture Settings
Panel in Premiere. Previously, in the drop down box for capture device, I
would select the DC30Pro. Now the only thing that is there is Quicktime
Capture. Next to the drop down box is the Message: "Cannot Connect to
Capture Driver".

I reinstalled Premiere and the DC30 Driver Software but still no luck. I
see no conflicts in Device Manager. I also made sure the Windows 2000
Driver Signature setting was set to "Warning" when I installed the Driver.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

William

In W2k you can only capture in Premiere if you have installed the new
DC30-Premiere-Capture-Plug-In.
Informations about this can you find on my homepage www.mirosupport.de in
section video.

PS: Now available XP-driver for miro DC50 and DC30.

Oh no....I also just found out that I need a separate sound card for it to
work with Win2k, which I don't have. Oh well, back to Win 98 I guess. I
really like Win2K....much more stable. It was worth a try!

Thanks for your reply.

In W2k with driver 1.42 you can capture and output sound with DC30.

But you can not use the DC30 as a soundcard like in Win98.

Thanks, I will check out your site - right now I've only gotten the picture
of your daughter ;-), but the rest will probably load soon.

What's the story with DC30+/Pro on newer AMD computers - any chance for it
to work?

There is sometimes only a problem in Win98/Me with driver 1.42 with faster
PC >2GHz.
But this is solved .
This problem does not occur in W2k or XP.

PS:In a short time also available a new XP-driver for miro/Pinnacle DC30
with full Premiere 5.x ,6.x (miro Instant) and DC30-soundsupport.

I saw a reg file patch on your site, I suppose that's the solution. Nice.

Maybe I should wait a moment then. As I understand it Win98SE is what to
use right now, but with the new XP driver everything will work the same in
an XP system, right? And I can have larger partitions/files?

I just thought that if I didn't have my Hi8 footage the best use for my
DC30 would be as a trade-in for a Liquid Ed. Pro, but maybe that's not the
case. A pity they didn't put an analog in option on that Liquid Pro card,
couldn't be that difficult converting analog->DV in a chip nowadays...

Thanks for your work!
