Here's the setup: Been using Premier Pro V1.0 / Matrox RTX100 capture card
for almost two years. I take broadcast quality content, edit and export to
..wmv & .rm formats. These are stored on a BIG video server and streamed to
users via Internet. To accommodate various connection line speeds, I
"encode" both formats at 56K, 300K, 700K and 2Mb/s. This produces eight
files, 4 in each format. An Internet user's connection speed is detected
and the proper file is then streamed to them. With Premier Pro V1.0,
"Export" is used and additional "audiences" may be added so one "export"
produces all 8 files. BTW, this occurs about 6:1, that is 6 seconds of
encode time for each 1 second of video.
With the expectation of improving the time to encode, I bought a souped up
custom PC with dual AMD Opteron processors, lotsa disk, 4 GB of RAM, etc.
from the local Adobe / Matrox distributor. Included is the new Matrox RTX2
capture card which, btw, is bundled with Premier Pro V2.0, whether you like
it or not.
The problem: Premier Pro V2 doesn't support multiple formats with one pass
or, if it does, I can't find it. It also appears that PP v2 doesn't use the
processor on the Matrox card to "assist: with encoding, like the PPv1 w/
Matrox RTX100 did. Preliminary test show WORSE performance, like 10:1.
So, what am I to do. I say "ask the "groupies" here for expert help.
HELP.
