- Anyone have experience with HP D5160 printing on CD/DVDs?

Am really tired of the constant battle with an Epson. Fails to initialize
properly, tray is rejected, tray slips, etc.

I have an old Epson R300 and once you learn its quirks
and the work-arounds, it is OK. I have printed hundreds
and hundreds of CDs and DVDs with it. I put up with it
because it is cheap. If I start doing any larger volumes,
I will have to investigate one of the robotic production
printer/copiers.

properly, rejects the tray as soon as I hit print and the only way to get it
to work is remove tray, close little door, turn off then back on and wait
while it reinitializes. . When it does work I have to hit print, then be
ready to give the tray a little push to get it past the rollers. Frequently
when it is finished printing it will eject the tray half way then set there
and spin it's wheels until I manually pull the tray out.
I think I've had enough Epson. I've printed well over a hundred discs with
it, a battle from the start.

Sorry to hear that, my R200 sometimes requires a nudge on
the CD Tray, but nothing like you describe. It could be that I
end up having those problems in the future, but I feel I've certainly
got my $85 back in what it has already printed for me.
Luck;

I'm using an Epson R220. I currently have none of the problems you
describe. I did have some similar but less intense issues, when I first got
the machine. I found that if the tray was not perfectly lined up
'arrow-to-arrow' I did have some problems. I used a white paint pen to
color in the arrows on both the tray and the printer fold-down thingy. Now,
I can properly line up the tray exactly, easily, and no more problems. I
just did five DVDs the last of which completed as I write this. Of course,
you may have a faulty printer. I can understand your frustration.

Steve, I have to say: I thought I was the only one to need to do that!
Great minds in the same gutter, as the saying goes....
BTW, mine is an R320, maybe it was that generation of printers....
