anyone using an Avermedia DVD EZMaker PCI?

I was curious about getting rid of my ADS Instant DVD and replacing it with
this...it's free after rebate from Officemax!

Is it any good? I'll be running VHS/Laserdisc to it to burn to DVD, I'm
running a PIII-733 (WinXP) system.

I don't have one myself but was curious too when I saw the OfficeMax ad.
One thing you should be aware of is you cannot preview full screen so it's
not very good for watching TV on your monitor. If all you're interested in
is using it to transfer your video tapes to DVD then it's probably worth
the price!

What don't you like about your ADS?

I use the card to capture VHS tapes and have had no problems. My machine is
a 2.4GHz P4.

It is a Brooktree Fusion878 baesd card--like many inexpensive TV cards,
but without a TV tuner. For full resolution video, a Pentium III-733 is
rather marginal for capture.

Good question, I'm not sure if my problem is with the ADS or the software it
came with. Capwiz freezes up sometimes, the bundled Sonic Mydvd is limited.

I'm trying a transfer using Mydvd for the capture and testing out Tmpeg DVD
Author, I like the DVD Author sw, I might have to register it.

If you have an ADS, how is it treating you?

There are two versions. Older cards use the Brooktree BT878 chipset and newer
ones have the NEC7130. If your card has three inputs on the back then it's the
older BT version.

I'm able to capture at 720x480 using Huffy or Morgan MJPEG with no problems on
a P3 600mhz Dell! Throw away the crap software they give you and use either
iuVCR or VirtualVCR.
