- Cannot capture video using ADVC-100 with Win 2003
- Posted by Mike on June 3rd, 2004
My Windows 2003 PC is unable to detect my Canopus ADVC-100 capture
box. I have a firewire connection into the PC, and a Sony TRV-308
video camera connected to the analog inputs of the ADVC-100. I had an
older PC running Windows 2000 and it worked fine. But now, with every
capture utility I try, I get a "device not found" error. The ADVC does
not appear in Device Manager, but the Firewire card does. I tried to
"scan for new hardware" but no joy. Any suggestions? Thanks in
advance.

I think Win2003 is Server software?
According to messages about other problems, Server2003 is VERY
different from desktop software, and simply does not work with
some products designed for desktop software

You are correct, I am using Windows 2003 Server. However I'm not sure
why a server product would not be able to detect the ADVC hardware. It
was able to detect and install my scanner, digital camera, network
card, etc. The ADVC is just another peripheral connected via firewire,
and the OS was able to detect the firewire card.
