Consolidating MINI DVD's to a regular DVD

(Sorry for the merciless snippage - I only want to make a couple of
remarks, and though it would be OK to snip a lot. Also, I'm thinking
about your second post in this.)

I can't say that we disagree, only that our needs are very different.

In your position - professional editing - you are fully justified in
your attitude. In fact, you are forced to do good work if you're to
stay in business - to state the obvious (caught me again!)

Lucky me, and lucky OP (pminor, Phil) - we just have to create
something that is good enough for us and/or for our families and
friends, and that we can afford - it's not tax-deductible :-)

In your situation, I would not accept what I accept now. I'm reminded
of when I made a DVD for a friend from his son's miniDV tape of a
concert of Balkan vocal music. The results drove him & his son to get
their own video software :-) ... and I no longer use Pinnacle Studio 8.

I had never thought of the problem you mentioned with a hard-drive
camera, since in that case, I would do my own transfers. But it is a
close relative of the situation I would experience if I filled my drive
when I was far from a computer to dump the 'footage' on.

I said I only wanted to make a couple of remarks. Hmm. Hard to shut me
up :-)

For those who might be moved by Larry's bashing of the
"Everio" approach, check out the JVC GZ-MC500, a
4GB removable microdrive 3CCD camera going for around
$1000. Although it can record to high quality MPEG2, if
you share Larry's MPEG phobia it can do DV-AVI as well.
