- Converting VHS and Hi-8 onto DVD via a PC ??

Hi
I am looking to covert old VHS tapes and Hi-8 tapes onto DVD via my
windows xp pc. What I would like to know is what do I need to complete
this process.
I do not have a digital camcorder to run the vhs/hi-8 film through onto
pc via firewire, so what other options do I have to get the film from
the VHS recorder and Hi-8 camcorder onto PC for burning to a DVD?
My current PC set up has a firewire port, 128MB ATI Radeon 9800 Pro -
TV Out/DVI graphics card and have Pinnacle Studio 9 and Pinnacle
Instant CD/DVD software.
TIA

You will need to get a card that allows video input. If you do not need the
absolute best quality, most TV Cards will do this, and you get the added
bonus of being able to watch TV on your computer. I have a Winfast TV card,
it cost about $50 and it is perfectly fine for what I do. I have converted
old VHS tapes to DVD and they look exactly the same as they did on the VHS
(but of course they won't age now)..

Depends on whether you want the quick and easy or would rather play with
the videos before putting them on DVD.
