Hello all
As a Pinnacle DC10plus Capture card and Adobe Premiere user, I've been
struggling with all the Win98 bugs and crashes while editing. DC10 doesn't
fully support WinXP and can only be used with "Studio 7+" as an editing
platform under XP. After a few months I got tired and found a solution I
would like to share with you:
Under Windows XP I installed the Morgan MJPEG Software codec and realized
that now Premiere can import and export MJPEG files, just like in Win98
using the DC10 Codec. To be sure I tried to render a small movie, got back
to Win98 and DC10 outputted the files just like it was created using it's
own DC10 codec. Now I capture with AVI_IO and output with Studio under
Win98, and do all the editing under XP with Premiere. Still frustrating, but
at least you can use all the benefits of XP, render faster, don't worry so
much from sudden system hangs...and use the upcoming Premiere Pro of course.
The only thing I'm not sure about are the settings of Morgan Codec. With the
DC10 codec I used 3900kbps and it worked great. In Morgan I get larger file
sizes and not sure so much about the right settings to use for export.
It would be nice to hear what you think about this solution, what settings
would you suggest for Morgan's codec or maybe you got a better method for
using DC10 under WinXP?
Thanks for you time and would appreciate your participation!
Nati.
