- Digital TV Tuner cards
- Posted by Leonid Makarovsky on September 5th, 2004
My analog cable has been shut off. Now I'm thinking of digital cable or
Satellite. I know very little about digital TV. So there're a few standards
like Terrestial, Satellite, and digital cable. Does there exist a sort of
a universal TV Tuner PCI card that accepts all of these standards? Also if I'm
to record from digital network, in what format will the TV Tuner card will
record it? I know DVB-T is MPEG-2. What about DVB-C and Satellite? Thanks.

Are you writing from Boston University, as the headers would lead
to believe? DVB-T and - as far as I know - DVB-C are standards
which are primarily used in Europe. You have other, incompatible
digital broadcast standards in the US. Knowing your exact location
(or at least the country and continent!) might help answering your
questions better.
