- Does encoding with consumer mpeg2 hardware produce good quality video...?
- Posted by JJ on October 5th, 2003
I am interested in a new capture card for recording from an svideo
source, and was wondering if I should get one with a built-in mpeg-2
encoder.
The WinTV PVR cards look like my first choice, but I would appreciate
suggestions.
I Like the quality I get with my current card using huffyuv and tmpg,
and I would like to know how the video quality would compare to
realtime mpeg-2 encoding, and if frame loss is an issue (p4 1.8Ghz)
I dont care about disk space, I want to save the time of encoding for
captures that dont require editing before encoding(full movies,
sporting events)
tnx in adv.
