- DVD burner

I have an mpg generated by TMPGEnc. I don't need to add any menus etc. I
just want to burn a video CD. I have Nero 5.5.9.14 and Roxio 6.1.0.88 and
neither show anything about a video DVD (Roxio can burn data to the DVD).
What is the simplest software to burn an mpg file to a video DVD?

Burn as data.
Some DVD players can play this kind of video files.
If your player can't play mpeg files then you have to author this to
DVD compliant files with an authoring program.
Like DVD-lab or (simple and very good) TMPGenc DVD author.
After that you can burn the created DVD files (directory VIDEO_TS with
*.IFO, *.VOB etc.) with every program which can burn to your DVD
writer.

Total nonsense. Why JoJo pushes the obtuse DVD-lab program is weird.
Nero has VCD and SVCD output mastering ... it is right there on the menu of
output options, and it does it very well. If the input mpeg is nonstandard
to these formats, it will need to be re-encoded, no matter what.

You can disable VCD 2.0 Compatibility and it will burn nearly all MPEG`s as
VCD but they will not be VCD Compliant unless you adhere to the SVCD/VCD
standard.

I've tried Nero, Ulead, and DVD-lab. DVD-lab is excellent and the others
are just not so good. DVD-lab isn't QUITE as easy to use, but this is
usually the result of offering the user more control over the project.

I have the full version. Can you give me a hint on how to burn a video DVD?
(It will burn data to the DVD OK). I look at the list of options and don't
see any video DVD. I have VCD and SVCD. Do I select SVCD to burn a video
DVD?

What version of Nero are you running? When you go to File/New, the New
Compilation window appears. In the top left there is a drop down box with
CD or DVD in it. If you dont have that, then you need to upgrade your
version of Nero.

The very last sentence reads "What is the simplest software to burn an mpg
file to a video DVD?"

The simplest software to take a single MPEG/MPEG-2 video and one or
more audio files and author a DVD is IfoEdit. You can't create menus,
chapters, etc, but for authoring a simple DVD there is nothing faster
or simpler. Then you can burn the DVD image with Nero or any other
DVD burning program. It is also free. There are guides on how to use
it on various DVD ripping sites.

Sorry,
I was indeed just asking about DVDs. I am just a lousy typist :-)
