DVD-RAM compatability

Am considering buying a Panasonic VDR-M30 DVD. Already have the HS2
DVD recorder/player. Can I play a DVD-RAM created by the camcorder in
the HS2? Although the HS2 will take a 2.8G DVD-RAM, the manual says
it may not be able to play if recorded on a different device. Anyone
tried it?

By the way, the properties of the VDR-M30 camcorder video - recorded
at Xtra (high) quality are as follows:

NTSC drop frame (29.97 fps)
MPEG files
24 Bits, 704 x 480, 29.97 fps
Field Order B
(DVD-NTSC), 4 : 3
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 8800 kbps)
Audio data rate: 256 kbps
MPEG audio layer 2, 48 KHz, Stereo

I have created a custom MPEG editing template in ULEAD MediaStudio Pro
7.01 and the frame accurate editing works great!

The Ulead "Smart Render" feature also works great.

Jerry have you authored any dvd movie onto dvd-ram on any of your Panasonic
drives? Or edited them on your pc and replayed them on the M30?

I would like to transfer some mpegs from my PC to my E80 using dvd-ram. And
burn dvd-r's on the E80. I like the E80 editing and menu creation much more
than any PC software I have (Studio, ezcd 6, ...)

I've done the following:

1. Extracted the MPEG from the DVD-RAM recorded in the Panasonic
camcorder by placing the mini DVD-RAM disc into my Panasonic drives
and using ULEAD VideoStudio 7, ULEAD MediaStudio Pro 7, and ULEAD DVD
MovieFactory 2 and their DVD-VR Capture Plug-Ins to 'copy' the digital
information from the mini DVD-RAM disc to my computer's hard drive;

2. I've edited the MPEG using ULEAD VideoStudio 7 and ULEAD
MediaStudio Pro 7 (ULEAD Smart Render works great as long as your
editing template is adjusted to match the attributes of the Panasonic
MPEG source video);

3. I've authored the edited video using the Panasonic drives to DVD-R
and DVD-RW discs (and no re-encoding occurs!);

4. I've used the DVD-VR export Wizard in Ulead MediaStudio Pro 7 to
save back to large DVD-RAM discs after editing the MPEG.

I have not tried using the DVD-VR Wizard to save edited MPEG-2 to the
DVD-RAM mini disc for playback in my camcorder, but I'm sure it is
possible.
