Hi,

I'm wondering is it possible to do a little editing on divx video without
having to reconvert to another format? I just want to add some cross fades
and those black censoring bars and blocks on small parts of the clip. I
don't mind the re-converting if it doesn't affect the quality too much.

what program would be best to accomplish this simple editing for a novice?

Vegas Video is fine for that, and you could get an older version for
cheap ie 6.0

I have had some problems editing divx but with FFDShow installed, it
is usually okay.
Sometimes the audio track will not load on the timeline but for the
most part, it
works with most files
