- Help needed: 16x9 video recognized as 4x3 video
- Posted by netram@dds.nl on October 3rd, 2006
Hi,
I got a bunch of recorded dvds with real 16:9 source material. But when
i open them on my pc they are played as 4:3. The details i get are:
size: 704x567
FPS: 25.00
Aspect ratio: 4x3
I can change the diaplsy size to 16:9 but i guess they should be
transformed to real 16:9. Anybody know how to do this?
Problem now is that in every program i want to edit the source material
it is recognized as 4x3.
Please help.

Download the free demo of www.VideoReDo.com
Open one of the big .vob files in your DVD with VideoReDo.
Click on the display area to pause the playback.
Use "Ctrl+L" to bring up the "Video Program
Information" window.
Click on the "Copy To Clipboard" button.
Make a reply here and paste/ Ctrl+V the info into
your post.
If it is "real" 16:9 it will have that in the header data that
gets displayed. If it is 4:3 and you want 16:9 you can use
VideoReDo's "Save As" Options to change the header
data.
Luck;
Ken

Software: DVD Patcher in which i can change the apect ratio to 16:9 /
DVDLab Pro / Womble MPEG Video Wizard -> all says 4:3
Dvd player: Some philips professional that only reads DVD+'s
Another strange thing is that the bitrate is 9548Kbps (VBR) in
DVDPatcher and Womble BUT when i demux the VOB file, i get a bitrate of
4531 kbps in DVDLab Pro, Also when i demux it in another program.
