- How can I watch this film? apparently using divx codec
- Posted by ellie on April 7th, 2007
hello everyone,
I have a film, I can watch in any software, I have tested with nero
showtime, vlc player, and windows media player, and I can watch it in
any of them
I used the program gspot to see the codecs it has, and didnīt say
anything about them, it says codec status undeterminded, I paste the
screenshoot here to watch it more clearly:
http://img40.imagevenue.com/img.php?...22_182lo.jp g
the extension of the video is .divx, but I could watch other films
with divx codecs in my computer
How can I make this film work?
Thank you and Cheers!

Reread your first paragraph.

If the suffix is .divx it's probably version 6+ that supports menu's etc.
You can download a free viewer or if you change the suffix to .avi most
players like MediaPlayerClassic etc will play it okay

What does "make this film work" mean?
In the first paragraph, you said that you can watch it
on any of your players. What is your question exactly?

Ellie, I'm guessing that you meant to type CAN'T where you typed
CAN.
Is this right?
If so, perhaps you just need the most recent Divx decoders (or
player)?
Divx - MPTIIW (more problems that it is worth) Use Xvid and ask
it to decode Divx.
I say this because I am having an ongoing dialogue with Divx
support regarding consistent crashes while transcoding HDTV
captures. Unbelievably Dr. Divx (as well as VDub-MPEG2)
transcodes what the PAID for most recent converter will not.
Their stuff is decidedly faster but incredibly unreliable.

yes, now I installed the last divx version and I can watch it in any
player, I thought I had it.....
anyway, I would like this film to have other codec than this one, I
guess I canīt decode it myself , since Iīve already downloaded it?
so now that I know that about divx, I wonīt use it, if I can avoid it,
Thank you......!
