I have Pinnacle Expression and Intervideo WinDVD Creator. I want to
author a DVD that starts with a short video (autoplay), then goes to
the main DVD menu for scene selection. I can't seem to figure out how
to do it with either of these programs. Anyone with an idea how to
get this done?

Don't know the programs you use, but you have to put the firstplay video in
youre project before the first menu.
That's how it's done by DVDlab and MovieFactory.
