Not sure about the Mpeg-1 part for VCD, but I have
played with both Media Studio Pro (6.5) and Sonic's
Video Factory 2.0 (the little brother of Vegas). Both
did a good job for Mpeg-2 (DVD) for me. There are
a couple of tricks to use for MSP:
- you either have to have the picture in the right aspect
ratio to start with or it looks tall/short OR, the easy way
is to use a simple 2D motion path, make it a custom with
the start and end size the same. Just drop that on your
picture with the "maintain aspect ratio" checked and it
works fine.
- make sure your picture clip (on the time line) is set to
"frame based" (right click and select Field order?)
Give that a try and see if that helps. Make sure you view
it on the expected target to judge the results -- what you
see on the computer is not what you see on the TV usually.
The output should be interlaced for the TV.
Check out http://www.vcdhelp.com for lots of good information.

outgoing email scanned by Norton Antivirus ... is that good ?
Linux users brag on how long their system stays up,
Window users assume it's a temporary condition ...
