- PAL mini DV ==> NTSC DVD
- Posted by Anonymous Netter on October 11th, 2004
I burned some video footages captured on a PAL mini DV camcorder onto
DVD-R (using PAL format) but my relatives in USA said they can't see
anything (blank screen). They said their DVD player & TV are NTSC-only
(not multi system).
Is it possible to convert PAL source into NTSC output? I am using
Pinnacle Studio 8 for the recording.
Just curious, is it true that most TV & DVD players sold in USA are
"NTSC only"? I am quite surprised because in much of Europe & Asia,
even the lower end models can playback NTSC format (although PAL is
the default choice).

USA too). My DVD player was a $30 type and my TV isn't that new either.
Generally all you need to do is set the output to DVD before encoding.
Depending on the Tool you might need to convert the material (Framerate
= 29.97 fps, Resolution = 720x480). If Pinnacle doesn't do it, try
VirtualDUB to treat your material before importing into Pinnacle.
