Possible cause of static popping making webcam videos?
Posted by HiC on June 4th, 2008

I'm actually asking this for someone else, I've never fooled with a
webcam setup.

Here's the problem they're describing.

Recording their web videos using Windows Movie Maker, they say that
after a minute or so, the audio develops random static pops. They've
tried both going in through the mic in jack and via USB. Using what
they're describing as a webcam mic.

They say it also does this with Cyberlink PowerCinema, also does it on
two different computers with different audio. Always the same symptom.
Audio is fine for a minute and then the random popping starts.

Here's their setup according to their profile.

Operating System: WinXP SP2 Home
CPU Speed: 2.6GHz P4 w/ HT
Harddrive space: 160+200GB Seagate, 300GB Maxtor, 250+320GB WD
RAM Memory: 512MB PC3200
Video Card: PNY Geforce FX 5200
Capture Card: Pinnacle AVDV w/ Studio 8
Motherboard: MSI MS-6743

Any suggestions as to what could be causing this?

Pops can mean your sound card drivers are having a problem with something,
like maybe some software you are using.
Try reinstalling or updating your sound card drivers.
