- Premiere on Laptop-which hard drive?
- Posted by MNP on November 2nd, 2003
I just installed Premiere 6.5 on a Dell laptop with a 40gig 5400 rpm drive,
and I have a firewire external 120 gig 7200rpm drive.
Of course, I am using the external for capture...but it occurred to
me...should I have installed the program itself on the faster drive to make
the program run faster?? Or..is there anything else I should do with my
drive configuration that will maximize program efficiency?
Thanks

Separate drive EXCLUSIVELY for data files (video, audio, preview, etc.)
Reason: You don't want to be tying up the firewire link with
unnecessary software traffic. Keep it clear for content exclusively.
There is little/no practical correlation between Premiere performance
and system disk performance.
